love’s big machine

Life’s farewell is alive again, with tortured hearts and virtue’s end. Put voodoo back in poet’s eyes, thine flower wilts by cloudless skies. But will you believe? Will you believe in…

Love's Big Machine

“Chris Luke’s new, genre-defying single “Love’s Big Machine,” pulses with raw energy and real, human heart. Both cacophonous and subdued, the lyrics celebrate the endless tumble of life and love, exploring themes of connection and isolation, with love as the driving force at the center. Part soundscape, part alt-rock-epic, “Love’s Big Machine” blends beauty and chaos in a unique, radio-friendly rock anthem”.

crash

Now we are a condom’d nation with a techno-peasant’s fate. And I suffer from this poisoning, must be something that I hate. I drive a ’67 Apathy and you can hop in for a ride. We’ll be backwards, dark, pathetic - a bitch’n disco suicide.

Crash

It was January 1995. I had worked diligently for over a year writing and recording this album. Copies were sent to labels and local press who offered favorable reviews. So much so, an indie label out of New York wanted to sign the band and immediately put us on the road to open for the rest of Sarah McLachlan’s tour. There was no band at the time, only me, but everything was looking up. And then….crash.

my new fear of flying

If you just give me something that I can believe, I’ll play all night, I’ll never leave. I’ll be your reptile, I slither for you. I’ll be your reptile, let me sing your blue’s.

My New Fear of Flying

This 1990-1991 back catalog release of “My New Fear of Flying” makes available for the first time, the sought after songs “Reptile“ and “I Don’t Get Much Sleep Anymore“ from the original 1990’s Beverly Hills 90210’ TV series (S01E11 “BYOB” - S02E03 “Summer Storm”).

The songs on “My New Fear of Flying” are 16 and 24 track “demos” recorded between the years 1990-1991. We always intended to re-record them once we were signed to a record deal, but that never happened - a publishing deal happened instead. Since our demos were well recorded and produced, they found placements on many TV shows worldwide. The highest profile show being the original Beverly Hills 90201 on Fox. “Reptile” was featured on S01E11 “BYOB. In preproduction for the second season of the show, the producers loved “I Don’t Get Much Sleep Anymore” so much, they decided to write a scene around the song highlighting the romance between Dylan and Brenda.

So on 25 July 1991, “Summer Storm” aired to a massive audience - the highest rated episode in the show’s short history. The episode also garnered the largest amount of call-ins and fan mail wanting to know who the group was that performed “I Don’t Get Much Sleep Anymore”. Even Aaron Spelling called the producers the night the show aired, praising the scene and the music behind it.
